Jude M. Hines, PhD, JD, LCSW

providing online LCSW and LCPC supervision

Hello! My name is Jude Hines and I provide online LCSW supervision and LCPC supervision for individuals seeking their license in social work or professional counseling in Illinois. I retired from school social work after 19 years and I also have experience working with people with disabilities, sexual assault, crisis/CISM work, LGBTQ population, not-for-profit agencies, research, public speaking, and children. I received my PhD in social work from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at University of Illinois at Chicago and my MSW from Aurora University. I also have a JD from The John Marshall Law School and a BS in Special Education.

Why an LCSW or LCPC?

Having your LCSW and LCPC offers a number of benefits, including job flexibility.

Most agencies require an LCSW or LCPC for employment because they are then able to bill insurance or Medicaid and the practitioner may engage in clinical practice without direct supervision. The Illinois Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act (225 ILCS 20/) requires an LCSW for an individual to engage in an independent practice of clinical social work.

Why me?

I have twelve years of experience supervising small groups for individuals working towards their LCSW and LCPC. I offer affordable and convenient meetings on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Currently, we are meeting remotely through a protected sever called Doxy.me. Previous clients have successfully competed their supervision hours and passed the LCSW exam; see their comments below regarding my supervision style. Also, I love supporting people through this process and celebrate with supervisees when they complete their supervision hours, pass their exam, and many new doors are open to them with a clinical license.

You can find more information on my supervision services here.

Client Remarks:

“After completing my MSW, I truly did not know how I was going to complete my LCSW hours and become licensed with few resources in my area in southern Illinois. I found Dr. Jude and she was amazing with this. I loved the ability to be able to login on the weekends to do virtual supervision. After getting out of many years of school, I was dreading the next step of the process, but this group and Dr. Jude actually made it very painless. I felt that each time we had supervision I learned so much about different careers in social work and tips that I could take back to my own career to make me a better social worker.  I do believe that hearing the other social workers speak and learning about the diversity of the field within supervision helped me to pass my LCSW on the first try! Dr. Jude is truly the best. I could not recommend her enough for supervision." S.S. 2023

LCSW supervision was the support I needed during a COVID 19 pandemic! If you are looking for affordable and flexible supervision, this is the group for you! Dr. Hines provided a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. I was concerned about if I could make it through the 2.5 years of supervision, but Jude reassured me that I could endure, she was right, I endured! I gained a wealth of knowledge and the support I needed during a time of uncertainty. As a medical social worker, I was able to learn a lot about the other social workers in the group who worked in various social work positions (schools, hospitals, and private practice). I highly recommend Dr. Jude Hines to any social worker or counselor who is seeking LCSW/LCPC supervision. F.B. 2022

"It's been a pleasure working with Jude for supervision! Coming from a more research-focused role, initially I wasn't sure what to expect with group sessions. Throughout our sessions, I was learning about different ways that research and practice can coexist and work together. Groups were diverse so I was always learning from peers from a variety of workplaces. Jude helped create a supportive environment where you had a safe space to process and reflect. She was always present and provided helpful feedback in sessions. There were also opportunities to discuss current events and research in

relation to our work. I recommend completing supervision with Jude if you haven't already signed up!" A.W. 2021

“I feel very fortunate to have found and been a part of Jude’s LCSW/LCPC supervisory group. From my first contact with Jude, she was responsive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Group meetings were held in a confidential, private space, and group participants were from many different work settings – which made meetings interesting and informative. With her many years of education and experience in the field, Jude was always able to provide helpful feedback and insight to group members whenever needed. What I found to be most impressive about Jude (other than) her years of supervisory experience or expertise, was her warm, welcoming, inclusive, and genuine personality. She obviously loves what she does and cares about her supervisees. Thank you Jude!!” CMH 2020

"This is an endorsement for Jude Hines as a LCSW supervisor. Jude is dependable, compassionate and extremely supportive. I felt she went above and beyond as a supervisor by sending me articles and helpful tools to help support my growth during my time with her in addition to the supervision she was already providing. I genuinely felt that Jude had my best interest at heart. She was very accommodating with my chronic illness and was willing to work with me to help me reach my goal. Jude created an environment where I felt safe and comfortable to share everything with no fear of judgement. It was also very helpful to have a group of clinicians from different disciplines within the field to network with and to get various perspectives.  I highly recommend Jude to anyone who wants outside support and is looking for a supportive and caring supervisor."  -E.G., MSW, MED, LCSW 2020

"Jude Hines is a gift. She is a truly authentic person with a great sense of humor. I always felt validated and supported in supervision. The group setting was amazing for getting feedback from fellow social workers in different areas of the field. This was a truly helpful and wonderful experience to be a part of Jude's group. " T.S. 2019

"I would absolutely recommend Jude to anyone seeking supervision for their LCSW. As it is for many social workers, it was impossible to find supervision at my place of employment and challenging to find reasonably priced and convenient outside supervision that would work with my demanding schedule. Thankfully, Jude made the process of finding external supervision very simple. Jude was responsive and attentive every step of the way. After a very brief period of time on her wait-list, I began attending her LCSW supervision groups. I really appreciated and benefited from hearing the experiences of other newer social workers in a variety of fields including school social work, private practice and home health care.  Jude's compassion, knowledge base, and guidance as a supervisor are unparalleled. I feel that my experiences in Jude's group have absolutely prepared me to take the LCSW exam and continue on in my journey as a professional. Thanks Jude!" C.K. 2019

"I would wholeheartedly recommend Jude Hines to any social worker who is looking for a clinical supervisor.  During the process of looking for clinical supervision, I met with numerous clinicians to discuss the process before meeting with Ms. Hines.  Shortly after meeting with her, I quickly realized that this was a person I would love to work with.  She does a great job of staying up-to-date on current social work trends, has a broad knowledge base to bring to supervision, and truly takes an interest in her supervisees and their professional development.  I strongly believe that my supervision helped me to become a more conscientious and well-rounded social worker."  M. M. 2018

"Supervision with Jude was a very valuable experience. Jude is a funny, caring, and respectful individual who truly listens to her supervisees. I found supervision to be a supportive, safe space in which to get meaningful feedback from Jude and members of the group. I often looked forward to supervision as a place of understanding, comfort, and great knowledge as I worked to navigate the beginning of my career. Though I am finished with supervision, I frequently find myself contacting Jude for guidance, which she is more than willing to offer. As a result of my time with Jude, I feel more confident in my abilities as a school social worker. I highly recommend supervision with Jude to any clinician seeking growth as a professional." A.D. 2017

“I was involved in two supervision groups at different times. Jude took me in with open arms and made me feel welcome coming into a new group. She was extremely accommodating with my previous supervision hours. Jude also did an excellent job of ensuring each person had an opportunity to speak, as well as inventively listening and validating each individual person’s issues or concerns within their practice. I would highly recommend Jude as an LCSW supervisor.” A.P. 2017

"Jude's group is an excellent way to obtain supervision in a comfortable, caring and educational environment.  The group setting is a great way to discuss problems, issues or resources in the field.  She has lots of experience in working in the school settings with many types of individuals with varying degrees of needs/ages -- and can communicate in sign language for anyone who might be hard of hearing or deaf.  She also has practical knowledge of working in the field and understanding some of the challenges Social Workers face daily.  She is open to listening and giving constructive criticism or ideas to help problem-solve ethical dilemmas.  The groups were always informative and productive.  Jude is a great listener and facilitator.  I would highly recommend her to anybody." N.B. 2016

"Awesome supervisor with great knowledge in LGBTQ and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing communities! I learned a lot from Jude that continues to grow and strengthen each day working as a social worker. Wonderful experience hearing from other social workers who come from different fields in the group. Very insightful and supportive environment!" E.K. 2016

“I had the opportunity to be involved in two different LCSW groups at two different times. Jude’s group appealed to me because of the flexibility in the days/weekends/hours. Jude’s group also left me feeling better prepared for the LCSW exam, better prepared for my professional career, and better prepared as a person. Under Jude’s guidance, I felt more confident and knowledgeable in the content required for the licensure. Jude is a very humble, genuine, humorous and resourceful mentor. I recommend this group to anyone who is looking to grow as a professional and as a person. I am blessed to call Jude my life-long mentor!” K.D. 2015

"I had the pleasure of working with Jude during my 2.5 years of earning my supervision hours for my LCSW.  Each session we took the time to not only get support for situations we were working through professionally, but also give support to the other members of our group.  It was a friendly atmosphere where I gained life-long friends and colleagues.  Jude is full of information and always pushed us to learn more.  Jude’s knowledge and background in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students was key for me choosing to drive over an hour every other week to our meeting location.  She always shared new information she received from a variety of continuing education events she attended.  We researched topics we identified as areas to grow and presented to the group. I learned a lot about myself as a social worker and educational team member during my time with Jude.  I would highly recommend Jude as an LCSW supervision provider." K.B. 2015

"Jude created a relaxed, comfortable, and quality environment for learning. I felt that each supervision session prepared me to be successful in the field of social work and help give me confidence in taking the LCSW exam." C.P. 2014

"Jude offers a great deal of emotional and educational guidance through supervision. I feel like I'm a better social worker because of her guidance and supervision." C.D. 2014

"Jude is an excellent supervisor.  Her skills in leading others within the field are rare.  She has an amazing ability to approach her work from a thoughtful and at times humorous way that is refreshing to others around her.  I am thankful to have found Jude as a supervisor and as a colleague.  I highly recommend her to others pursuing their LCSW supervision."
